A short session summary, since it was indeed short.
Before the Session
Ramar is a MIME, with a sad and lonely past. After years of rejection and failed attempts to be accepted by his peers, he is now an expert in the art of the con. His capers allow him to live from day to day.
He has been called upon by Alyce, a recently graduated CRYOMANCER, summoned to the city of Yora, the Jewel of the Desert, though like many such places, the veneer of civility hides the tarnish of corruption. She has asked him to accompany her on her first great journey out into the world. She has been called upon by one of the Senators of Yora, whom they will meet with in the morning.
Hawk is a SNIPER, who once worked for a Senator as well, Ivan Stensson, who called upon him to use his great talents to kill first those who were dangerous, then those who were a mere nuisance, and finally left when he was called upon to kill the inconvenient. His services have been procured by Senator Louise Delacoeur, who wishes for him to accompany a young, naive Cryomancer out into the world to investigate some bandit attacks. He has agreed to this, generally on the basis that this seems fair and just.
Kestrel is an EARTHWALKER, orphaned at a young age and raised by his brother Peregrin in the Earthwalker tradition. They travelled the plains of Illyanol, protecting the people who lived there from the predations of others. After one such successful battle, Kestrel discovered a badge bearing the Lion's Insignia, which Peregrin met with great anger and sorrow. It was this event that led them across the continent, back and forth, until the fateful day when Peregrin found his rival Falco once more, and they fought, plunging down the icy length of a great waterfall, disappearing from site. It was with vengeance and justice in his heart -- and his fists -- that Kestrel travelled to Yoraelle searching for answers...
Session 1: A World Out Of Balance
Alyce and Ramar
Alyce and Ramar are off to start their adventure. Alyce has an appointment to visit Senator Delacoeur, and they need to be on time for the meeting. Unfortunately, being that she has not really been out into the city before, she isn't totally sure which way she is meant to go. Ramar, acting logically, flags down a native of the city so that he might ask directions from someone who knows.
Unfortunately for him, he asked a person who had a nefarious purpose in granting them directions, leading them straight down an alley, where they were attacked. Fortunately, Alyce and Ramar, while new to travelling the city were not so new to combat, and they quickly dispatched their foes. Those who watched were alarmed, and quickly sought to bolster their forces. Meanwhile, Alyce apologized profusely for the incident, and Ramar needed to rest.
Kestrel
Kestrel has made it to the city and has found the mark of the Lion... pretty much everywhere. It appears to be the mark of the house of the Emperor himself. This complicates matters entirely too much, though it does not appear that Falco is a member of the Emperor's house, as near as he can tell, which is difficult since he cannot read. As he wanders the city, he hears a familiar cry: "Stop, thief!"
Kestrel leaps into action, or at least, trips into action, though the thief is light on his feet and is able to continue running into an alleyway, where he can join forces with two more thugs. Though Kestrel faces overwhelming odds, he does not fear. Alyce and Ramar, nearby, rush to join in the fray. When dispatched, Kestrel explains what he seeks, and Alyce suggests Senator Delacoeur may have information for him, so he agrees to tag along.
Hawk
You have experienced hardship, disappointment, and frustration. You have been picked up by a new, more benevolent sponsor. Now, you are experiencing people who are late for a meeting. Goddamnit. The Senator suggests that they may have gotten lost, and asks for Hawk to follow the route they were supposed to be taking to see if he can find them.
Hawk expresses skepticism regarding the wisdom of the route, since it is nearby many alleys, but agrees to go take a look. When he finds them, they are beset by even more thugs. My, that escalated quickly, didn't it? He joins them, and together they fight off the thugs. Now that they have proven themselves to be a worthy fighting force, they proceed to the Senate building as per their plan, though Alyce is quite late for her meeting.
The Party is One
Hawk delivers Alyce, Ramar, and Kestrel to Senator Louise Delacoeur. She introduces herself and asks for the names of those she doesn't know.
She will be brief: recently there have been a series of bandit raids in the south, and they need to be dealt with. Supposedly, those who investigated the original site claimed that there was proof that the Vanya to the south were responsible for the raids. Considering that the person who performed those investigations is Hawk's former employer, Senator Ivan Stensson, Senator Delacoeur believes that he is full of shit. Senator Delacoeur wants to avoid a war at all costs, so she wants you to go to the latest attack site and check it out. Defend yourselves if required.
Hawk – This is your job, and it's also an assignment where you can use your best judgement. If you feel that people need to be shot? Shoot them. If you people need to be spared, spare them. She is not a Sniper, she trusts you to do your job.
Kestrel – This is basically what you were doing before, but in another country. You have chosen not to ask her about the Lion's insignia you found.
Ramar – She doesn't seem to mind you, or find that you're wearing a scarf to be at all weird. If anything, she seems to sympathize.
Alyce – As per usual, should you find any places where Elemental Power has accumulated, you should drain it. Again, she is not a Mage, she trusts you to do your job.
NPC Scan: Louise Delacoeur is a Mediator, though her stats are otherwise hidden. Also, she is under the effects of Alchemical transformation, but there are no details other than that.
When the meeting is over, she has one more thing to add: you may wish to visit the Shop when you can. Because you do not have an Alchemist as a party member, you will need to pay to have items created for you. When you steal items from targets such as Elementals, they can yield Elemental Fragments that can be added to item slots. You may also find other materials as you combat various enemies.
This Session ends with exploring the Item Shop and deciding if you are going to spend money or not. You may only purchase items using materials from the first tier. Your currency is Libris.
End Session 1
Total EXP Earned: 115. This session, you have reached Level 2. You gain HP, increase your TP and EP caps, and earn AP.
Total Libris Earned: 1900. You may have additionally purchased items while at the shop.
Goal Achieved: Meeting with the Senator.
Next Session's Goal: Investigate the site of the attacks.
Thank you, and I hope you had fun!
